Geoff: You Have to Look Forward
When he first got diagnosed, Geoff didn't know anything about MS. But he spent time learning about the disease and setting goals for himself—like someday being able to walk his two daughters down the aisle.
Read Geoff's full storyIt was pretty tough. I mean, I didn't know anything about MS, really. Honestly, I started crying 'cause I just saw myself in ten years in a wheelchair and not being able to take care of myself. That's why, you know, I really had to learn about MS. Get up to speed on what it is.
I'm not in a wheelchair – I got a cane. You know, the first 3 ½ years of being diagnosed with relapsing MS, I felt great. You have to look forward. You gotta look to that future.
My goals really all surround being there for my family. I want to be able to contribute, to be able to walk my daughters down the aisle. Now they're only, what, 14 and 12 – they got a long way to go, so I got a long way to go to keep walking and I'm gonna make sure I am there to walk them down the aisles, 'cause that is what is important to me as well.
You have to keep fighting. You have to keep going – don't ever give up.
